Here we go guys!!! This is what I know now. The name, as I'm sure you guessed by the title of the thread. The dates are November 16th-18th. From what I understand, Sunday night is going to be big. I'd try to take Monday off work. I know it's Thanksgiving the following Thursday, and I ask you to trust me when I say it will be worth it.
This new place is easy to find. You get off I10, go south about 4 miles and you will turn in the gate right off the road your on. Don't try to go there now, big fence, locked gates, you won't get in.
The new owner is very cool and I don't think we could ask for a better host. Not only are we going to get Bear Creek, but they are making this a music venue for year round events. One day concerts were you can camp on site as well as other fests to come.
Lets start with the house that I'm sure will be off limits during any event.
This is the front of the house from down on the road that leads to the driveway.
This is the side of the house.
Now the view from the house.
This is on the front porch looking down the front lawn at the road I was standing on and the pond.
This one is from the top porch.
The pond is man made, but is fed by a spring. To the left the water comes up from the spring, feeds the pond, and then runs out the silver box in the right side of the pond. That feeds Bear Creek.
The spring is in there somewhere. I didn't get down there to take a look.
This is looking off the right side of the house at what will be the concert field.
A little closer look.
The far white fence is going to come out and the main stage will be down there.
This is another shot of the field from the fence line.
Off to the right and at the top of the hill will be a big circus tent. It will be the second stage. They will run back and forth. This tent will give people shade during the day, and close it up at night to keep the heat in for late night. It will also hold in some sound, so they don't hear us in the next county at 5am
The 3rd stage could be anywhere. They have a lot of ideas, and I don't know what will win out.
About 6 of us went on a tour for over an hour. We could have been out there all day.
And now the animals.
This is the first wild animal I encountered on the property.
His name is Dubie and belongs to the owner. He ran in circles for 20 minutes right there in the yard.
Then we got in the truck and we found this guy.
He is as big as a cow, and the horns were out of this world. It's called a Watusi. The breed comes from Africa.
Deer
Fallow Deer from Europe.
Rams!!!!
Sorry I didn't get a better picture. They ran like hell when we pulled in. I vote the most impressive animal on the property. When they saw us, the male flexed his chest. Oh shit is he big and strong. Then they ran, head first like they were charging the trees. You did not what to be in the way. Then we turned around in the field and the mail jumps up front to give another flex. This is as close as we could get in a truck.
Deers ass.
Big deer bucks.
Also, while I was down on the dock, some deer came out to the feeder on the other side of the pond. I don't know if you can see them up on the hill, but they are there.
I hear this one is called a Jeff, and I have no clue where it comes from.
I didn't get a picture of Bear Creek and I feel like an ass. I loved it so much. The water is cool and spring feed. Clear as can be and is 6 inches to a foot deep. It feeds Lake Talquin. The creek is 12 or more feet wide and winds through the property. I'm telling you, I wanted to take my shoes off and walk it end to end.
Anyway, this is about all I know for now. I'll keep you guys posted with new info.

Looks great! Rally bumming I can't go, but there is just no way. I have a project worth 65% of my grade in one class due that wednesday and 3 finals worth 100% of my grade in 3 classes 2 weeks later.
All I kept thinking when I saw the pictures of the animals at Bear Creek is the commercial where the guy runs into the deer with red eyes in the wilderness - deer attacks, guy fights it off, sniffs his underarms and says,"lets go pitch a tent" to his girl - Looks like alot of fun ~
By the way, any bears at Bear Creek? _________________ Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That's relativity.

Once upon a time, there was one big happy population of black bear in FL. Now, thanks to development and habitat fracturing, there are 8 small struggling populations of black bear left. The Appalachicola region is the second largest black bear population in FL. (Ocala is the densest.) I just looked up a map for current estimates of the Apalachicola region population range and it looks like Quincy is on the periphery which means the likelihood of any kind of sighting is diminished.
Besides, I don't think they like Umphrey's McGee.
One thing is for certain - the number one killer of bears in the state of FL is the automobile. Drive carefully and keep your eyes out for our pal, Ursus americanus floridanus.
And if you do see one, contact Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and phone in your bear sighting and help in the conservation effort.

The Ocala population that does indeed contain the Ocala National Forest but is not limited to it. _________________ "When you live in a society where virtually everybody drinks the kool-aid, it's always refreshing to run into someone knocking down a vodka and tonic." |

Man, a bear suit would cost a lot. Checked some costume sites and ebay. Not looking good.
