Since Brad's thread has 4 pages of DB discussion in it before he included a wish-list / dream line-up I figured this topic deserves its own thread.

Bands that should come again (and me not putting a band in this list by no means says that I would not want them back, I liked everything I saw, but these are the most important to me):
Robert Walter's 20th Congress - Cause they don't tour much
Lettuce - Dirty, dirty funk, but next time with Jesus please
The New Mastersounds - Cause they're the best funk band out there (Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, my opinion, man)
Yonrico Scott Band - That set was awesome, perfect music for an early afternoon
Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue - Cause shorty is one of the best entertainers out there
Papa Mali Band - Cause he gets some cool cats to come out and play with him
Zach Deputy - duh
Dr. Claw - Cause I missed it! damn
Surprise Me Mr. Davis - Because they just blew me away!
Eric Krasno & Chapter 2 - Best Krasno project? Might just be, Louis Cato is a monster
Good Enough For Good Times - Who doesn't want to have good times?
Avis Berry's Soul Revue - Biggest surprise of the weekend. I was sobbing
Fred Wesley - Do I really need to give a reason?
Kofi Burbridge - He was EVERYWHERE
Matt Grondin - King of the jam room needs to be at BC

New artists for next year (in no particular order):
ALO - New album coming out, they better start touring in the East.
Bustle In Your Hedgerow - Need some Rock
Cornmeal - Bluegrass doesn't get any better than this
Easy Star All Stars - Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Beatles in Reggae = Awesome
Eric McFadden - his trio, Stockholm Syndrome, artist at large, I don't care, just make him come to BC
Kyle Hollingsworth Band - Or at the very least Garrett Sayers as artist at large
Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood - Cause I have never seen MMW with Scofield
The Roots - Cause some people still don't know how awesome live Hip Hop can be
Walter Wolfman Washington
Sparrow Quartet - Or at least Ben Sollee by himself
New York Ska Jazz Ensemble - Nobody knows them, everybody would love them

They should contact Indobox from Mass- and have them come do a late night set in the "bar"

Lots of good music up North East that I believe, would take well in such a setting down there. We're severly lacking in Funk up here, but we do have plenty of good jam bands.

I simply loved this years Bear Creek!
The music was so amazing it sucked me in and I stayed until Monday.

I would love to see--

MOFRO
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals
Josh Phillips Folk Festival
Yo' Mama's Big Fat booty band
Lee Boys

No complaints however on this year!! Not one ounce!! I loved the entire weekend from beginning to end!

Grace Potter would be an awesome addition. She could sit in with NMS and do their arrangement of her song Nothing But The Water (among others - they did It's Your Thing together here in Colorado at Mile High Music Festival in 2008).

Oh yeah, Grace Potter! She opened for Galactic and sat in with them for a Zep cover at Jannus Landing a couple of years ago.

Not really big into Grace, her show get's real old quickly for me. But if enough people like her I have no problem with her on the line-up, either. There is plenty of other stages to go to during her set Wink

Can we have more women musicians in general?!

There was a severe lack of representation by the ladies at the festival. I know there aren't too many prominent female bands, but you can not tell me that we can't put some female vocalists on the "at-large" list. Where was Mrs. Tedeski-Trucks? Razz (I don't know if I spelled her name properly)

Basically, my camp was dominantly women (what can I say? SSDP is just sexy like that) and many of my friends were disappointed to see so few women represented at bear creek. And I was too!

Bring on the ladies! (Or at least move Avis into the nighttime lineup!)

John

I have some suggestions for female musicians or bands with one or more female musicians:
Sharon Jones
Rodrigo y Gabriela
Bettey LaVette
Larry Keel and Natural Bridge
Ozric Tentacles

From my suggestion above, there are a couple of artists with at least one female member:
Cornmeal
Easy Star All Stars
Sparrow Quartet

couple suggestions that caught my eye were...

Headhunters with robert walter and denson (herbie took jazz/funk to a whole different level)

vinyl (amazing funk band that a lot of people may not be familiar with)

DJ Logic (artist at large) (would be really cool for sit in's, ive seen some stuff he did at swamp meat with col. bruce and some other people and it was damn good)

my favorite set from this decade is the 2002 late night Saturday Galactic set at the first Bonnaroo, I still have not witnessed a better 6 hours of music in 2 sets from one band....Logic sat in for over an hour during the second set....it was Logic, Stanton, Ben, and Rich for half of that...sick shit!! I still listen to that set on a weekly basis...

hell Logic with String Cheese, MMW, and Particle...the list continues...excellent for sit-in's and can add a different level to anyone's sound if the moment's right....

another great band that I've mentioned on here in the past is Liquid Soul, their out of Chicago and don't play much anymore but everyone in attendance would remember their set if they were convinced to come down for Bear Creek....
and I have to put in one more vote for my folks in the Cosmic Sweat Society...
