And of course thanks to a couple glasses of red wine and "Tom Petty's censored words" I passed out mid Bela and missed the only two things I was really excited to see: P+F, GRaB.

I spent the whole weekend waiting for Sunday so I could see moe., P&F and GRAB. Father's day threw a wrench into that plan. Oh well...I probably would have been disappointed anyway _________________ I like to picture Jesus as a mischievous badger |

P&F was pretty much awesome. I still cant stand anyone in the band singing, except for maybe Joan, but musically it was fantastic. Schofield adds a really cool dimension, and the interplay betweent he guitar player is wonderful.
GRAB. I watched maybe 20 minutes of this. The tune was Dragonfly, I believe. WOW. I was really happy when I saw this. Marco was a little low in the mix at times...but there was a great energy going on there. Russo is the man, Trey and Mike were in top form. The jam going out of Dragonfly > The next tune, was cool as hell. Its no Phish, but the Phish vibe was there and the energy and power of the Duo was just pushing it up to that next level. |

The bonarroo webcast was the best idea. It was great to enjoy some great live music in the company of friends while sitting in cold cold air conditioning.
Wouldn't do bonarrro any other way!
Well maybe all access!
Oysterhead was the highlight for me! That antler guitar Trey was playing was crazy. Those guys are insane! |

Holy crap. I just started it up.
There is something about seeing Mike standing next to Trey on the same stage that almost just made me cry.

well I got to check out some of the webcast ... thanks Kevin Beers for the awesome feed.
heard some moe, didn't see, but what I heard was better than the entire HOB experience for me personally.
I was in time to catch Bela, and although I've seen Bela on many many occassions, he still is incredible ... someone called Bela a wanker on this thread, and to that I say nothing but point and laugh.
Phil ... sure he's not that great when he sings, but thank god theres other people singing WITH him that makes it sort of alright. His song choices were interesting, but enjoyable. John Scofield on guitar, I mean come on! woo hoo, can't wait to hang out with them all on Saturday!!! Very much looking forward to Sat. night now!
and finally staying up to catch the 45 minutes of aired Trey and Mike ... hell yes! it was like all your favorite "jam" sections of your favorite Phish tunes being "jammed" out before your very eyes. It's billed as Trey and Mike w/ the Duo, and from the mix, that is exactly the priority ... Trey and Mike way loud in the mix, keys barely audible, and the drums are being beaten by Russo so of course you can hear one's beating. I loved that part of the night and can't wait til this July.
side note ... I've seen Bright Eyes twice, and this whole "indie" scene is incredible, full of ambitious musicians who create something different fresh and new. This is a brilliant scene of players out there, of which we have a mighty big scene here in Orlando (Band of the Name, Yip Yip, Band Marino, etc.). These are the almost nerdy kids from high school who put together a band and who can surprise you with their new ideas. I for one love it and embrace it with open arms. Then again I'm a fan of hearing something brand new that I've never ever heard before. I'll take brand new territory instead of the "hits" set ANYDAY!
There was some debate last night of what Phish songs Trey Mike and the Duo would play ... thankfully they played shit no one has heard before (unless you caugfht Trey in Atlanta at the end of April) and killed it (peronaly opinon).
Go AT&T for bringing the festival to our homes. Now that MTV is supposedly the proud owner of Bonnaroo, we'll see what slick video giants of stars they infuse in it in the near future.
I got a few text messages from friends that were there, one big surprise was our buddy Jason Herold, who told me about Trey and Mike and the Duo being the unnamed super jam and how Phil came out and did Casey Jones and GDTRFB with them ... go Jason ... glad you were there ...
others also reported in about Beck and Radiohead killing it!! Sure wish I was in the RV and there, but super psyched for everyone who made it!
whirled peas,
